Why can\u2019t people just ignore annoying comments?<\/p>\n<p>Last week, however, I became irritated myself. I\u00a0lurked during\u00a0a Twitter conversation that touched on my own field of expertise.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>People<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>took sharp stances,\u00a0commented<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>sarcastically, sneered humorously\u00a0&#8212; and from my point of view<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>they were completely ignorant.<\/p>\n<p>What to do? Should I try to set them straight? Block the whole gang?\u00a0Stop using Twitter?<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t do anything.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t\u00a0want\u00a0to\u00a0explain the\u00a0basics.\u00a0I couldn&#8217;t\u00a0find the right tone to intervene.\u00a0I didn&#8217;t want to stop following people on the basis of a single conversation.\u00a0Leaving Twitter because of its drawbacks is not an option for me. Also, I don\u2019t understand the point of muting people. Blocking I have reserved for spam and fake accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I decided to mute six hashtags and words.
